✨ The Story Behind My Fair Maiden

This piece was inspired by my Granny, who loved the view of two little islands she could see from her home in the town I grew up in. Earlier this year, she sadly passed away, and this painting became my way of honouring and remembering her.

The sun doesn’t naturally set behind the buildings in this scene but I painted it that way as a tribute to a memory. My Granny used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to us grandkids, and I wanted to capture both the view she loved and the meories of that song in a single moment on canvas.

My Fair Maiden is more than a landscape. It’s a memory made permanent and an ode to Granny Ruth.
